Answers and Solutions

  1. (5) 58

  1. Sumit = 2 bipin

  1. (1) Mixture of acid and water = 60 litres Volume of water in the mixture = 10% of 60 = 6 litres

Let ‘x’ litres of water be added in the mixture.

(x + 6) = 25% of (x + 60) or, x + 6 = 1 4 (x + 60)

or, 4x + 24 = x + 60

or, 4x – x = 60 – 24 = 36

or, 3x = 36

x = 12 litres

  1. (5) Let both the trains travel for x hrs.

According to Question

60x – 45x = 200  15x = 200

x = 20015

Distance between Punjab and Delhi

= 20015 × (60 + 45) = 20015 × 105 = 1400 k.m

  1. (5)

Area of path

= (18 × 3 + 17 × 3) – (3 × 3)

= 54 + 51 – 9 = 96 sq. m

total cost of paving the path at the rate of 2.5/sq. m= 96 × 2.5 = Rs 240

  1. (4) Simple interest

= 35500 15 2100 = Rs 10650

Principal for another investment = 35500 + 10650 = Rs 46150

C.I. = 46150 [(1 + 20100)3– 1]

=   46159 91125

=   33597.20

Total interest earned

= Rs 10650 + Rs 33597.20 = Rs 44247.20

  1. (1) Percentage of milk in the first mixture

= 56 ×100 = 2503%

= 79 × 100 = 7009%

Using Alligation method,

required ratio = 209 : 103= 2 : 3

  1. (1) Let the two parts be Rs x and Rs (1301 – x)

x(1 + 4100) = (1301 – x ) (1 + 4100)^9

=625

  1. (3) (120+ 1301t) 60 = –1

‘-1’ is taken because the work is negative. T is the time taken by the waste pipe to empty the tank alone. We will t = 10 So, capacity = 10 × 8 = 80 litres

  1. (4) Ratio of profit between Sushil, Monty and Bhupendra

= 30000 × 24 : 120000 × 18 : 180000 × 12

= 1 : 3 : 3  Share of Manish in the profit

= 2100007 × 3 = Rs 90,000
