Simplification Question and answer for Bank Po and SSC, RBI, and other government exam.

BODMAS (Brackets of division, multiplication, addition and subtraction)

  • First we solve brackets.
  • Secondly we solve powers ( square root, cube root, squares, cubes, etc.).
  • After that we solve multiplication or division (which comes first) from left to right .
  • And finally we solve addition or subtraction (which comes first)  from left to right .

Rules of power

  • xa × xb = xa + b
  • xa/xb = xa – b
  • (xa)b = xab
  • n√x = x1/a
  • In the expression like this xabc, we solve it from upper side i.e. first we solve bc and then abc and so on

Basic formula of indices

  1. a  = 1
  2. a –1 = a
  3. a-1 1/a
  4. a-n 1/an
  5. √a a1/2
  6. 3√a = a1/3
  7. n= a1/n
  8. √a = a1/4
  9. nmp1/mnp
  10. (na)nam
  11. (am= amn
  12. a× a = amn
  13. a÷ a= am-n
  14. (a × b)= a × b n
  15. √a × √= √b
  16. aay if only if when x=y

Short tricks to find square roots

First remember the squares from 1 to 9

12 = 1

22 = 4

32 = 9

42 = 16

52 = 25

62 = 36

72 = 49

82 = 64

92 = 81

  1. √2809 =  ?

Following Question prepared

First check the unit place of this number (which is 9)

3^2 = 9

And 7^2 = 49

The unit place of the number is 3 or 7

Ignore the last two digits (09)

Remaining digits = 28

Now 28 is in between 5^2 and 6^2

5*6 = 30 > 28

Since 28 is small than 30 so we take smaller one in 3 and 7

√2809 =  53

  1. 5776 = ?

57 and 76

4^2 = 16   and  6^2 = 36

7^2 < 57 < 8^2

7*8 = 56 < 57

Since 57 is greater than 56, so we take larger in 4 and 6

√5776 = 76

  1. 12544 = ?

125 and 44

22 = 4 and 82 = 64

125 lies between the squares of 11 and 12

11*12 = 132 > 125

Since 125 is smaller than 132, so we take smaller in 2 and 8

√12544 = 112

Short tricks to find cube roots

First remember the cubes from 1 to 9

1= 1

2= 8

33 = 27

4= 64

5= 125

6= 216

7= 343

8= 512

9= 729

Simplification Question and answer for Bank Po

  1. 32744

First check the unit place of the given number (which is 4)

Now find from the above cubes that which cubes has unit place 4 (which is 4)

So unit digit of our cube root is 4

Now ignore the last three digits 744

Remaining digits = 2

Now 13< 2 < 23

So our cube root is 14

  1. 3√17576

Unit place of this number = 6

So unit place of our cube root is 6 (63= 216)

Ignore the last three digits

Remaining digits = 17

2< 17 < 33

So our cube root is 26

  1. 3√778688

Unit place of this number = 8

So unit place of our cube root is 2 (23= 8)

Ignore the last three digits

Remaining digits = 778

93< 778 < 103

Our cube root is 92
